How long have you been playing?: My first event was November 2005, so about 11 years and some change. A few friends from another LARP came to KoN to try it out, came back with all kinds of stories and dragged a bunch of us out to try it. Been hooked ever since.
Describe your character: I play Illivandros Lisandre, a middle aged Evenandran elf craftsman/merchant.
He's driven by a constant need to improve himself and prove himself to his family back home (even though most of it is in his head). He sees himself as a craftsman first and a merchant second, although he's pretty pretty decent at the latter. He's got a very rigid view of society and how it should work, which has caused some tension between him and other PCs in the past. Illivandros often has a hard time relating to other races, especially humans. He's very much a typical member of his race from Evenandra, at least when he's not wearing a mask of friendliness which few people ever see him remove.
What was your favorite in game moment?: This is a hard one for me, honestly, as there have been many great moments. I think I'm going to have to go with my first PC coming back from the dead, so to speak, to haunt another in a nightmare realm. It was so much fun for me, as an NPC version of my old PC, to look at a PC he had been close to and scream nightmare inducing things at them. Best part is that it came entirely out of the blue for the poor PC.
Why do you love Kingdoms of Novitas?: Because I've met so many wonderful people through it. I've made friends I'd of never of met due to location or a number of other factors.
Who is your favorite PC?: Valora Dragonsmiter. Hands down she's one of my favorites to watch in action right now. She's fierce yet can show mercy when the time calls for it. Very even tempered, again, when the time calls for it.
What did you think your character concept was? What is it now?: When I created Illivandros, I wanted to make a typical member of a race that wasn't human. A person that was just another guy, but still challenging to play (thus the other race), and wouldn't have a lot of the traits you see in PCs. So I picked a caste (Craftsman in this case, because PCs usually like to adventure) and went from there. So you could say his concept was “Typical High Elf Craftsman/Merchant”.
What is it now? Now he's starting to adventure more, going out and tagging along with adventurers. He's picked up a fair bit of healing magic along the way (obstinately so he could be useful in town without having to go wandering off) and often acts as a healer when out with a group. His core concept is the same, he's still a craftsman and merchant at heart, but now he's expanding on that.
How many PCs have you had? What happened to them?: I've had 2 others.
Gaius was a mercenary turned Septon. He died, eaten by a Kazvak specifically, defending a cabin full of defenseless people.
Modis Priscus was a healer from Civen. I made him specifically to adventure with a party made up of some OOG friends of mine and when the group disbanded I decided to retire him as I was getting a little tired of playing him at that point. In retrospect I should of just made an Alt, but live and learn.
