TO THE FREE PEOPLES OF EVERY VILLAGE OF THE FORMER FREELANDS:
A Notice of General Import, from the Crimson Couriers.
The members of all Known Nations have made their intentions clear to the Crimson Couriers that the territory called the Former Freelands is to become the Freelands once again. The involvement, power, and authority of the Known Nations will be withdrawn from the Freelands, and the borders that existed before the Dissolution of Ghage’s Treaty will be remade anew. A new treaty is being drafted and will be signed in the exact middle of the Freelands—Pinedale.
The signing of this new treaty, called the Treaty of Pinedale, will require many signatures of witness, and any resident of the Freelands that wishes to be a witness to history is encouraged to sign. There is no cost to becoming a witness, and there is no contractual requirement. There will be multiple signings, the first on the eve of this Friday, and continuing through the weekend. If this is your intent, find your local Crimson Courier and let them know you are interested in becoming a witness to the Treaty of Pinedale.
This has been a Notice of General Import, from the Crimson Couriers.
=====
The month of October is upon us and with it a grand many things have changed. The Evanandrans and other nations have loosened their hold on the Freelands. Caravans of Terrans, Elves, Snow Goblins and Humans have been seen evacuating to their respective nations.
Rumors circulate that The Great Builder has been sealed away in the Lake of Nalbendel and that the Piscean's Eldest One has been returned to them. Others whisper about another powerful Dark Fae by the name of He Who Is He who has also been sealed away forever. There are even stories that there will be a new Treaty of Ghage signing! Regardless, all of these things have come to a close just in time for Pinedale's largest celebration… Harvest Festival!
The Harvest Festival begins Saturday morning and with it all matter of contests and competition. Strong with a blade? Try your hand at the Fighter's Tournament or the Bear Pit. Think you've got a keener mind than everyone else? Then, Vleanoan No Hold'em is your game. Perhaps you've got an eagle eye? You could always take your bow to the Ranged Weapons contest. Maybe, you're just hungry and want to hear a tale? There will be plenty of stories, including a telling of the history of Novitas.
No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it at the Harvest Festival!
The High Elves of Evenandra have begun to show their true interests in Pinedale. Elven camps were set up near the lake crater of old Nalbendel, with the intention of excavating ruins from the depths below. They were forcefully removed by the Pisceans who live below those waters, and the High Elves retreated, weary of what magical artifacts the Pisceans might use against them. After all, one artifact was all it took to turn the city of Nalbendel into a crater…
New camps were set up near the old Shrine of Draconus, with the intention of studying it and breaking it apart to understand how it works. A cult of Drakes and Draconus worshipers who call themselves The Conclave of the Shrine have appeared seemingly from nowhere to defend the Shrine, forcing the elves to retreat once more for fear of their unknown ritual magics and strange magical connection to the Shrine.
The elves have tried to negotiate with both factions, but to no avail. They have retreated their forces to a safe distance and have seemingly given up on the acquisition of the lake and the Shrine.
In an attempt to appease the citizens of Pinedale, the High Septon Adorellan is conducting a trial to decide the fate of Luke Blake, the man accused of casting the spell Abomination. This trial will take place at the same time and same place as the execution, only one month later. Citizens of Pinedale will be selected to join in a tribunal to help decide the verdict of Luke Blake.
Meanwhile, rumors of the Bandit Queen roaming around near Pinedale have arisen, with her thieves focusing primarily on raiding the Conclave of the Shrine members. There also seems to be an unusual number of Dark Fae lurking around the lake at night, and the undead attacks upon the town of Pinedale have increased.
Have the High Elves given up on their endeavor to study and harness the power of the mysterious magical sites of Pinedale, or is all of this part of a larger scheme? Elves are known for their patience, but even an elf’s patience can wear thin. It is up to the adventurers of Pinedale to defend their home from whatever dangers may come from this sudden escalation of violence.
